High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?
Recognising potential and developing talent
Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.
Tailored lessons
Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.
Rich opportunities and activities
Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.
Opening doors to wider experiences
Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
High potential and gifted education opportunities
There are four domains of potential. They are:
- Creative: Natural abilities in imagination, invention, and originality.
- Intellectual: Natural abilities in processing, understanding, reasoning, and the transfer of learning.
- Physical: Natural abilities in muscular movement and motor control.
- Social-emotional: Natural abilities in self-management and relating to and interacting with others.

At Anzac Park Public School, supporting high potential and gifted learners is central to our daily teaching. Our teachers use evidence-based practices to identify each student’s learning needs and differentiate content, processes, products, and learning environments, creating challenging and engaging experiences that inspire deep thinking, creativity, leadership, and continuous growth.
We focus on:
- Adjusting content to offer complex, abstract, or accelerated material that stretches students’ understanding
- Varying processes by incorporating problem-solving, inquiry-based tasks, and independent projects that encourage higher-order thinking and creativity
- Modifying products to allow students to demonstrate understanding in diverse ways that reflect their strengths and interests
- Creating flexible learning environments that support individual pacing, collaboration, and risk-taking in a supportive setting
- Promoting authenticity and student choice so learners are engaged in work that matters to them and can direct their own learning
At Anzac Park Public School, students with high potential and gifted abilities are recognised and supported through a range of programs and activities that nurture their academic, creative, social, and physical strengths. Our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) approach provides engaging opportunities designed to build confidence, promote growth, and inspire a lifelong love of learning within a caring and supportive environment.
